On May 31, a rally was held in Arkalyk, dedicated to the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Political Repression. In the Kostanay region, about 4,000 people were repressed. During this harsh period, the lives of the remarkable sons of the Kazakh people: Ahmet Baitursynov, Myrzhakyp Dulatov, Magzhan Zhumabayev, Turar Ryskulov, Saken Seyfullin, Beymbet Mailin, were cut short.
According to various estimates, from 2 to 3 million people became victims of mass hunger, more than 1.5 million fled from Kazakhstan, which in total amounted to 60-65% of the entire Kazakh people. Kazakhstan lost practically all intellectuals defending the interests of the national statehood and became the deportation site of hundreds of thousands of innocent people and the exile of other repressed ethnic groups whom our deprived people saved from cold and starvation.
The rally participants commemorated the victims of political repression with a minute of silence.
The team of Arkalyk State Pedagogical Institute named after I.Altynsarin laid flowers at the monument to Ahmet Baitursynov.
The Day of Remembrance for the Victims of Political Repressions reminds us of the difficulties that have fallen to the lot of previous generations, and helps to better understand the achievements of our Independence, the main of which are peace and harmony in society. The memory of the victims of repression and hunger is sacred for the modern generation of Kazakhstanis, and will always remain so.
